What are the abiotic factors of an ecosystem?
The abiotic factors of an ecosystem are those that contribute and effect a particular ecosystem but are not living organisims. It is the physical and attribution to an ecosystem.
Examples Include;
Light, Tempreture, Wind Patterns, Rocks, Soil, Water, Atmospheric Gases, etc...

Five abiotic factors that affect the health and survival chances of the fish.
Within a fish tank is an ecosystem, the abiotic factors are the non-living items present in the fish tank. These abiotic factors have crucial contribution towards a fishes health and chance of survival.

WaterFish tanks contain mass amounts of water. This water is in fact an abiotic factor. Different animals require different water types, for example, a mollie fish requires freshwater in its tank whereas a seahorse would require salt water. The tempreture of the water also effects the fishes health and therefor survival.

Sand and RocksIn all fish tanks, sand and/or rocks cover the bottom. These are abiotic factors. The sand and rocks provide a shelter for organisms of the tank, such as bacteria and fish. Many tanks have what is called 'Live Rocks' that contain life such as algaes.
|
The EquipmentThe equipment that the tank requires to run effectively is an abiotic factor. These include things such as filters, aerators and cleaning equipment. Whilst the equipment may seem un-important, it is a crucial factor for survival in a fish tank. For example, if the heater of a fish tank broke, the tempreture would change and could effect a fishes health.

Chemical CompositionFish live in particular pH levels. The pH level of water is an abiotic factor. Nitrates affect the health of fish in tanks or result in algal blooms which are difficult to rid of. The amount of nitrates in a fish tank can cause health and survival issues
|
The light or sunlight that actually warms or touches the tank is an abiotic factor
without this light, the fish may develop health problems because the need
natural elements around them in order to keep them healthy.

What other living things are present in a fish tank?
Other living organisms rather than fish are present in aquatic tanks such as:
Bacterias - Live Coral and Rocks - Crustations

How do plants and bacteria assist in keeping fish alive?
Plants and bacteria are present in the ocean and help fish stay healthy. As it is present in the fish's natural environment it is also necessary for the fish in its tank. Bacterias and plants contain vital nutrients for a fish's diet.
